Overview

Data converters are at the core of every analog interface to systems-on-chips (SoCs), which are moving into more advanced processes to take advantage of process scaling. However, integrating the analog interfaces become a challenge in advance processes due to the perceived bad analog characteristics such as the available reduced supply voltage and large area requirements.

Synopsys' DesignWare Data Converter IP portfolio consists of analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), digital-to-analog converters (DACs), auxiliary converters, video DACs (VDACs) and analog front-ends (AFEs), and is based on state-of-the-art architectures, including the parallel Successive Approximation Register (SAR). The pre-validated, high-performance, compact and low-power data converter IP is available in leading foundry processes from 180-nm to 28-nm. With the IP, designers can integrate critical functionality in their SoCs and meet the analog front-end interface requirements, while lowering BOM cost and minimizing integration risks. The 12-bit analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters deliver fast conversation rates up to 320 MSPS and 640 MSPS respectively, and the companion PLL delivers 3 GHz low clock jitter.

Synopsys' high-quality DesignWare Data Converter IP solutions have been implemented in more than 300 production designs for mobile and wireless communication (LTE, WiFi 802.11ac/ax), wired communication (G.hn, MoCA), IF demodulation, multimedia, imaging and digital TV, Internet of Things (IoT) and sensor data acquisition applications.
