Cypress adds more Arm Cortex microcontrollers

Cypress Semiconductor has added to its Arm Cortex microcontroller offering with new M0+ and M4 parts.

By Richard Wilson - Electronics Weekly, Nov. 24, 2015 –

There are two new series of FM0+ microcontrollers, the S6E1B-Series and S6E1C-Series, which have more memory and new peripherals.

The S6E1B-Series has been tuned for secure machine-to-machine (M2M) communication designs and the S6E1C-Series is optimised for wearables.

There is up to 560kbyte of flash, 64kbyte SRAM and 102 GPIOs for the S6E1B-Series.

Peripherals include communication interfaces with AES hardware encryption and an internal crystal oscillator to enable crystal-less communication.

Up to 6-channel multi-function serial interfaces (UART/I2C/SPI), a 1-channel USB Host or Device, AES encryption, a 2-channel HDMI-CEC, a 2-channel smart card interface and I2S for digital audio.

Analogue peripherals include an 8-channel, 1Msps, 12-bit SAR ADC and an LCD controller with voltage boost.

The form factor is QFN and QFP packages. Cypress has also introduced three new FM4 microcontrollers which operate at frequencies up to 200MHz and integrate peripherals for motor control, factory automation and home appliance applications.
