The DATE 2016 conference and exhibition in Dresden attracted 1400 experts

Mar. 22, 2016, Mar. 22, 2016 – The DATE 2016 Conference and Exhibition closed doors last Friday, March 18, 2016,receiving 1400 registrations from 50 countries and ending with excellent feedbacks from both participants and exhibitors.

DATE 2016 received 829 paper submissions, a large share (42%) coming from authors in Europe, 29% of submissions from Asia, 25% from North America, and 4% from the rest of the world. This clearly demonstrates DATE's international character, its global reach and impact.

For the 19th successive year, DATE presented an exciting technical programme, comprising 78 technical sessions and 11 Exhibition Theatre sessions.The DATE week started on Monday with ten in-depth tutorials and the popularPhD Forum, hosted by EDAA, ACM SIGDA, and IEEE CEDA.

On Tuesday, the conference was opened by the plenary keynote speakers Luc Van den hove, President and Chief Executive Officer imec, who presented a talk on "From the happy few to the happy many: towards an intuitive internet of things", and Antun Domic, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Design Group, Synopsys, who talked about "Design will make everything different". On the same day, the Executive Track offered a series of business panels discussing hot topics. Executive speakers from companies leading the design and automation industry addressed some of the complexity issues in electronics design and discussed about the advanced technology challenges and opportunities.

The two special days "Automotive Systems"and "Secure Systems" marked again distinctive highlights in the DATE week. During the Automotive Systems Special Day on Wednesday, a keynote was given by Patrick Leteinturier, Fellow Automotive Systems, Infineon Technologies to talk about "The Car of the future will reinvent personal mobility".On Thursday, the keynote in the frame of the Special Day on Secure Systems was given by Walden C. Rhines, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mentor Graphics on "Secure silicon: enabler for the internet of things".

The vibrant accompanying exhibition altogether hosted 56 exhibitors , among them also 15 European Projects. The popular University Booth animated the show with 49 demonstrations from 18 different countries. This year dedicated thematic campus boothsin the heart of the exhibition area focused on major trends such as IoT and secure systems, Ultra-Low power technologies (FDSOI), 5G wireless networks, 3D-IC integration and automotive systems - shaping the future of microelectronics.

As the major networking event during the DATE week, the DATE Party was a remarkable experience for the attendees. It took place in the famous museum "Albertinum Dresden" and offered guided visits of the "New Masters Gallery" and the "Sculpture Collection". It was generously supported by the City of Dresden again.

Finally, the eight Friday Workshops attracted more than 250 attendees andcompleted the DATE week successfully.

DATE continues attracting high participant numbers and therefore manifests its status as the leading EDA conference worldwide, shaping the future of the industry.

In 2017, the DATE conference will celebrate its 20th anniversary and will take place in Lausanne, Switzerland, from March 27 - 31, 2017 - once again bringing together industry and research in partnership.
