32bit Arm power in a tiny wearable, sewable, package

Adafruit has created an Arm Cortex-M0 version of its Gemma wearable development board and single-board computer - the original has an 8bit ATtiny85.

By Steve Bush , Electronics Weekly, Oct. 05, 2017 – Called Gemma M0 it is 28mm in diameter and 7mm high, with crocodile clip sewing pads for solderless wearable applications and a Microchip (Atmel) ATSAMD21E18 on-board.

This vastly more powerful chip offers a 32bit processor, 32kbyte RAM and 256kbyte flash. Plus it has native USB support, "which removes the need to download additional software for use", said Mouser, which is stocking the item.

The board ships with Adafruit's CircuitPython programming language, so makers and engineers of all skill levels can use it out of the box without downloading software - it also supports the Arduino integrated development environment (IDE).
