Intel Moving Select CPU Manufacturing to GlobalFoundries
thinkcomputers.org, Jan. 28, 2020 –
Intel has been running their own silicon fabrication facilities to their limits for quite a while now. Because of this we've seen a shortage of available Intel CPUs. According to a new report it looks like Intel is looking for a third-party semiconductor foundry to share the load and this could ultimately be GlobalFoundries. GlobalFoundries has a 14nm class facility in Upstate New York and if this goes through GlobalFoundries would start manufacturing within 2020.
