Baikal Electronics allies with IP-cores domestic developer

January 17, 2022 -- “Varton Group” (“Baikal Electronics” & “Astra Linux Group” shareholder) acquires a stake in Russian developer of RISC-V based IP processor cores - CloudBEAR Company. Supporting an independent center development project new co-owner acts as the second major chip maker in the deal. Earlier in 2017 “Milandr” acquired a stake in CloudBEAR.

CloudBEAR is one of the leaders in the development of RISC-V based IP processor cores. Major Russian and international design centers use CloudBEAR cores in their systems-on-a-chip in order to design microcircuits for embedded systems, network applications, artificial intelligence, wireless communication systems and data storage systems.

"CloudBEAR deal opens huge prospects as well as possibility of a long-term synergy for all participants. Acting as new shareholders, we have a unique opportunity of priority access to the company's advanced technologies and their modernization according to our requirements. We are to develop our own products based on these technologies. "Baikal Electronics is planning to use CloudBEAR RISC-V based IP processor cores in its projects for the development of Baikal-L and Baikal-S2 processors. Baikal-L is a Russian processor specially designed for laptops. Baikal-S2 is a server processor for cloud computing" - says Andrey Evdokimov, Chief Executive Officer of Baikal Electronics.
