Multi-Protocol Engines

Overview

Inside Secure has a long history in providing leading-edge multi-protocol engines to Embedded SoC developers and manufacturers. These engines evolved to specialized protocol engines suitable for different 5G components. Inside Secure Low latency MACsec engines are available to protect the data link Layer (L2) of provider and access networks, base stations, backhaul and data center communication. For higher layers (L3 and L4), Inside Secure advanced Multi-protocol engines suite the need for end-to-end security using IPsec and SSL/TLS. All these high-performance protocol engines reduce system power consumption and offload the CPUs significantly, allowing those to execute the tasks they are designed for.


For Securing Layer 2 connection, Inside Secure offers a complete solution comprising of a family of MACsec Security engines and a MACsec software toolkit widely adopted in PHY devices, switches, bridges, and routers for Layer 2 LAN and Metro Ethernet communications. The MACsec engines target deployments in data centers, 5G base stations, including BUU to RHH links, enterprise networks, home gateways, IP phones and more. Build Ethernet switch fabrics and PHY devices using MACsec engines to reach speeds from 1Gbps, 2.5Gbos, 10Gbps, 25-50Gbps, 100Gbps, 400Gbps and beyond. For Security of the higher layers (3 and 4), Inside Secure offers complete solutions for a large variety of higher-level protocols. Unlike simple crypto-only accelerators, intelligent protocol engines contain complete protocol knowledge, delivering the benefits of throughput acceleration and CPU offload. The Multi-Protocol Engine IPs offer acceleration of IPsec, MACsec, SSL/TLS/DTLS and basic hash-crypto operations at target speeds ranging from 100Mbps to 50Gbps and beyond, in architectures ranging from the traditional look-aside engines to the more sophisticated, powerful inline packet engines.
