JPEG 2000 for extreme resolutions and UltraHDTV

The Ultra High Resolution JPEG 2000 Encoder & Decoder familly of IP cores goes beyond the resolution limit for processed images (usually 4096 x 4096 pixels), focus on the new standardized UltraHDTV and allows pictures of any resolution to be compressed. It is the only hardware JPEG 2000 codec that allows the processing of Ultra HD images (8K : 7680 x 4320 or 8192x4320 pixels).

With such a rapid evolution of available image resolution, the need for highly efficient image compression is bigger than ever before. intoPIX offers now a range of IP-cores that can adress very high resolution.

The intoPIX Ultra High Resolution IP-cores go one step further in terms of encoding power and high end applications.


JPEG 2000 offers many useful features for ultra high resolutions image compression. It revolutionize the way high-resolution image data are disseminated and analyzed.

Its resolution scalability or its Region of Interest (JPEG 2000 ROI) capability will seamlessly allow the extraction of small resolution for example HD (1920x1080) from the full Ultra HD 4K or 8K resolution during transmission, browsing or displaying. JPEG 2000 is offering an easier access of very large images.
