La French Tech Unveils 2021 Startup Cohort

The French government-backed initiative La French Tech has unveiled the 120 most promising startups that will be supported in a growth accelerator scheme throughout 2021. In this article, we will zoom on 10 tech startups that we think deserve our attention.
La French Tech is an initiative launched by the French government in 2013 to bring together all those who contribute to the growth and reach of startups, including investors, engineers, developers, students, associations, policy makers, and community builders. Its main mission is to promote French startups abroad and to attract foreign entrepreneurs or talents in France.
La French Tech ecosystem has experienced substantial growth and expansion over the years. Funds raised by French startups doubled between 2015 (€1.81 billion) and 2018 (€3.62 billion) and increased to €5.03 billion in 2019 and to €5.39 billion in 2020, according to consultancy firm Ernst and Young. While the UK (€12.7 billion raised, +11% in value) is still ahead at the European level, France leads the EY Venture Capital Barometer for the European Union and is ahead of Germany (€5.2 billion, -14% in value).
