proteanTecs Raises $45M to Enable Deep Data Analytics for Electronics Monitoring

www.eetimes.eu, Jun. 07, 2022 –

As the demand for electronics for electric vehicles and data centers increases, ensuring the reliability and performance of these systems becomes a challenge. Haifa, Israel–based proteanTecs aims to solve it with its Universal Chip Telemetry (UCT) monitoring solution and has recently raised $45 million to further develop its technology.

The Series C funding round was solely led by Addition, a New York–based venture capital firm that believes proteanTecs's solution will remove roadblocks for customers as the startup continues to expand its business with more advanced chips.

In the fall of 2021, the Israeli company announced a $50 million extension to its growth equity round. Koch Disruptive Technologies led the investment along with other strategic investors, including MediaTek, Advantest, and Porsche SE. With seven funding rounds totaling $200 million since the company's inception in 2017, the company intends to maintain its market position. Nearly half of its total funding raised, or $100 million, has been secured in the last 10 months alone.

ProteanTecs provides deep data analytics for advanced electronics monitoring, from production to system deployment in the field. The technology is based on UCT, defined by the company as a new standard that quantifies the value, measured by performance monitoring, quality, reliability, and cost, from embedded agents. These sophisticated agents or monitoring IPs measure relevant parameters while the chip is operating in the field, turning them into smart system sensors. ProteanTecs provides three types of agents depending on the customer's requirements: classification and profiling, performance and degradation monitoring, and operational sensing. The measured data is fed into the analytics engine, which helps to improve the system performance and reliability.

The company's latest solution is Proteus, a software platform providing deep data analytics. By applying machine-learning algorithms and fusion to the data collected by the UCT agents, Proteus provides unprecedented visibility into the electronic systems. The cloud-based platform visualizes the data in a user-friendly format and provides actionable insights and alerts in all the stages, from manufacturing to field operations. Other data analytics companies take the data from the user and generate an output, which is more generalized and statistical. ProteanTecs said it provides a more personalized solution, which takes the data from the UCT agents while the chip operates and applies analytics to it.
