Rambus ups DDR5 data rate and bandwidth by 33%

Rambus Inc. has advanced the performance of its DDR5 registering clock driver (RCD) to 6400 MT/s, which has a 33% increase in data rate and bandwidth over current production intellectual property (IP) cores.

electronics360.globalspec.com/, Feb. 01, 2023 –

The Rambus 6400 MT/s DDR5 RCD enables a new level of main memory performance for data center servers. The company began shipment samples of the RDIMM to manufacturers in the fourth quarter of 2022.

DDR5 offers enhancements for computing systems as data centers require more and more memory bandwidth. Rambus memory interface chips such as RCD, signal presence detect (SPD) hub and temperature sensors. The DDR5 memory is built into the RDIMMs enabling over double the data rate and four times the capacity of DDR4 RDIMMs. This is at the same time increasing memory and power efficiency.
