As many might have expected, AI has so far dominated CES 2025, with seemingly every chip manufacturer making lofty claims about how their processors will become the go-to for AI-driven tasks.
Intel, in particular, is aiming to bolster its leadership in AI PCs and edge computing with the launch of several new Core and Core Ultra processors across three major product lines. These processors were launched alongside upgrades to several existing chips. Here's a look at some of the most notable new entrants.
Intel Core Ultra 200V Series
Intel regards the Core Ultra 200V, an existing Lunar Lake chip, as its answer to modern business demands, with integrated vPro features that offer advanced security and manageability. Combined with built-in AI acceleration, these processors are optimized for features like Microsoft Copilot+ to enhance workflows.
According to Intel, the series sets a new benchmark for battery life in ultrathin laptops thanks to Intel's Arc Battlemage architecture, delivering up to 20.3 hours on typical office applications. It also performs exceptionally well in AI tasks, providing up to 2x faster application speeds than three-year-old PCs. All models feature eight CPU cores: four performance cores ("P-cores") and four efficiency cores ("E-cores"), with eight threads. The base model has a 4.5-GHz P-core and a 3.5-GHz E-core, while the high-end, 288-V Core Ultra 9 features a 5.1-GHz P-core and a 3.7-GHz E-core.
Other technical specifications include built-in dual-channel LPDDR5x-8533 memory, an updated neural processing unit with up to 48 TOPS, and support for PCI-Express 5, Thunderbolt 4, USB4, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.1, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and Gigabit Ethernet.
Intel Core 200S Series
One of the most notable of Intel's new releases is the 200S Series, which expands on the company's desktop lineup. The 200S is a new design named Bartlett Lake, while the 200H and 100U are updates of Intel's 13th- and 14th-generation Raptor Lake, which launched in 2022.
