Korea and Qatar to Expand Investment Cooperation in Manufacturing AI, Semiconductors, and Bio Industries

Apr. 30, 2026 –

On the 29th, Yeo Hyungu, Director-General for Trade Negotiations at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, met with Qatar’s top commerce official to discuss investment cooperation in advanced industries such as manufacturing artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, bio, and semiconductors. This initiative aims to expand the scope of cooperation from an energy-centered partnership to future-oriented industries as a whole.

Director-General Yeo held talks in Seoul with Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Sayed, Minister of State for Commerce of Qatar, on this day. This meeting was arranged as a follow-up to further develop the cooperation measures discussed during the Qatari visit by the President’s Special Envoy for Strategic Economic Cooperation on April 13.
