AI Demand Lifts Entire Semiconductor Ecosystem… Q2 Foundry 2.0 Revenue Surges 25%

Driven by expanding AI semiconductor demand, global Foundry 2.0 market revenue hit a record $96.6 billion in the second quarter, up 25% year-over-year. Foundry 2.0 encompasses the entire semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem, including pure-play foundries, IDMs, OSAT providers, and photomask suppliers. TSMC extended its dominance with a 42% share of total revenue, while South Korea's Samsung Electronics held second place among pure-play foundries at 4%. Advanced packaging and testing markets grew in tandem as AI chips demand higher performance, with TSMC's CoWoS supply shortfall expected to ease from roughly 20% this year to around 10% next year. Over the next five years, more than 130 million GPUs and AI ASICs are projected to ship in advanced packaging form factors, generating approximately $2 trillion in computing revenue.
