Mentor for sale

Mentor Graphics is reported by Reuters to be exploring options for selling the company after it has been receiving the attentions of activist investor hedge fund Elliott Management.

Elliott, which is also making life difficult for Samsung, has bought 8% of Mentor, says its shares are under-valued

Elliott says it sees the opportunity of "enhancing operational efficiency and revenue quality, as well as strategic opportunities."

Mentor has seen off two attempts to interfere with its independence, from another activist shareholder Carl Icahn and from Cadence.
