Arm has made a number of predictions for 2020, and here they are:

Accelerated movement towards iSim as price becomes lower and customer choice takes priority

As more IoT devices come online and volume scales to hundreds of billions of devices, price becomes a factor and enterprises are going to look at iSim as a means to lower the Bill of Materials (BoM) cost in deploying IoT solutions. This will apply to both traditional cellular and LWPAN areas. There will be strong partnerships emerging from the system in package (SiPs) providers, connectivity providers and mobile network operators (MNOs) to enable enterprises to make early decisions on leveraging cellular connectivity to get data from devices to point of analytics. –Himagiri Mukkamala, SVP and General Manager, IoT Cloud Services, Arm

IoT devices go long range with adoption of new cellular protocols
