Interview with Nestwave CEO: low power geolocation without positioning chipset

www.positioning.tech, Sept. 18, 2020 –

Ambroise Popper, you are the new CEO of Nestwave, can you tell me a bit about yourself, how Nestwave got started and what is the core of your business?

Before joining Nestwave as CEO, I worked in wireless & semi-conductor start-ups both in France and Silicon Valley. In particular I was a co-founder of Sequans, that went IPO on NYSE in 2011, then VP Marketing for Quantenna, that was acquired by ON semi in 2019 for over $1B.

Nestwave is a Paris-based startup providing advanced, IoT geolocation solutions to IoT modem and DSP vendors. We were founded on two simple principles. First, that geolocation is the killer-app for IoT and a "must-have" to enable IoT scale. Second is that geolocation solutions require a rethink to meet the needs for IoT. So Nestwave is on a mission to provide the IoT ecosystem with a unique geolocation solution.

Can you explain the technology developed by Nestwave?

Nestwave enables low power IoT geolocation without the need for a dedicated positioning chipset.

How are you doing this?

Most geolocation solutions are based on the processing of wireless positioning signals sent between nodes of known location and an object of unknown location. This is true for GNSS, 4G/5G, WiFi, UWB and Bluetooth-based approaches. We are different in three ways – which signals are being used, where the processing occurs and how the processing is performed.
